Reed Switch LED

Magnetic contact is a proximity switch what is used magnetic field of magnet to actuate Reed Switch. Because of design in Reed Switch, low cost and simple using-way is major characteristics of magnetic contact. Major applications include security equipment, domestic appliances, automation machines etc.

Magnetic contacts convert mechanical motion to an electrical signal via the basic reed switch capsule. A reed switch consists of two low-reluctance, ferromagnetic reeds placed in a cantilever style so ends align and overlap but with a small air gap. These slender, flattened reeds of 50% nickel and 50% iron are precision plated with precious metals chosen to ensure optimal function. Metals usually include rhodium, ruthenium, and gold. The plated reeds are then enclosed in a controlled atmosphere of inert gas and hermetically sealed in a glass tube. When brought into the influence of a magnetic field, extreme ends of the overlapping ferromagnetic reeds assume opposite magnetic polarity. When the magnetic flux density is sufficiently strong, attraction forces of the opposing magnetic poles overcome reed stiffness and cause them to flex toward each other making contact. Because there are no mechanical parts, there is no sticking or bindind to wear out. This fault-free operation can be repeated accurately millions of times at extremely high speeds. Motion to activate the sensing device can be any that brings the permanent magnet close to the switch. Both exposure to, and interruption of the magnetic field can trigger sensor operation.
